Engine compartment work is almost complete. All accessories are in, wiring is done, belt is on, hoses are connected (except one); so it's all coming together. Working a few hours a night is no way to do a build! And of course, you always need something that you dont have.

Still need to do some fab work on the exhaust; will be using the high-flow cats I had with my previous setup, along with a X-pipe and Borla mufflers; will need to cut the mid-pipes to fit the headers and weld in a couple of wideband bungs. Hope to get all that done tomorrow, and finish up under the car. Then it's just getting the intake in, injectors, and a couple small things, fill up fluids, connect battery, load tune, and fire it up!

Well, engine's all in, ready to go. Working out some PATS/tune issues to get'r started and running.

Just using stock intake until she's broken in, then the Kenne Bell will go on in a couple months.

Looks like we have a PCM issue (the one I bought is either not quite compatible or is junk). A replacement is on the way.

Just wanted to update , your old engine is finally up and running in my Explorer Sport
While doing engine swap I decided to dump 500lbs of dead weight and get rid of the 4 wd and convert to 2wd, other things got in the way and as you can see it took two years of sapre time but just fired her up yesterday and should be rolling by the weekend, engine sounds strong and tight,, finally get to use my nitrous system now,,
anyways just wanted to let you know and thank you again!

So what all did you have change out on the engine for the Explorer? Any of the front stuff like water pump, timing cover, or valve covers? Motor mount brackets? I'd like to know, as I have another 4.0 engine and knowing what all would take to put into an explorer is just good to know if asked.

Im thinking between the 500lbs I lopped off
by removing the 4wd and the healthier engine it should run good. Just havent received my driveshaft yet though it supposed to be there tommorow.
Need to drive it and see if i missed anything or if anything leaks or needs to be adjusted.
After going thru all this work i feel for anyone that puts a 5.0 in one of these (the 2doors never had them) it is TIGHT even with a 60deg V6 , I cant imagine with a 90deg V8..
